ROAD ACCIDENT ANALYSIS SYSTEM (RAAS)

RAAS is a fully integrated, comprehensive solution that can be used for scientific road safety management. The application is completely web-based, facilitating complete end-to-end accident data management system with built-in intelligent analysis and road safety program management functions.

RAAS is backed by a powerful Geographical Information System (GIS) engine that supports multiple GIS standards. This facility helps to plot accident data on digital maps and enables in-depth GIS-based spatial analysis like polygon analysis, cluster analysis for accident black spot identification and grid analysis.

Addressing the 4Es of Road Safety

  • Enforcement - RAAS helps in proactive and scientific enforcement planning / management of measures such as identifying high incident zones, effective tasking of police personnel, safety campaigns etc.

  • Engineering - RAAS provides necessary reports to augment engineering and design alterations of roads for improving road safety.

  • Education - RAAS outputs help in identifying, implementing and managing awareness programs/educational campaigns targetted at focussed focus groups.

  • Evaluation - RAAS allows comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of road safety interventions, thereby measuring effectiveness of all road safety programs implemented.

  • Towards Complete Road Safety Management

  • Identify problems based on in-depth analyses of accident data.

  • Establish Safety Goals based on identified problems, which are measureable, realistic and time specific.

  • Plan programs for countermeasures and associate costs and timelines.

  • Implement and monitor programs by periodically checking progress and modifying ongoing programs.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of all interventions implemented by measuring outcomes against the set targets/departmental goals and help establish Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
